Cat Tries to Revive Friend Hit By Car (Very Sad)

Low-end of the gene pool is alive and well on this board. First of all, I had 2 cats. One was hit by a car last week, I went outside to find the other standing over him touching the dead cats face. I could barely carry him into the house as he kept fighting to go back to his friend.
Whether or not this cat was trying to resuscitate or wake the other cat we will never know. What is obvious is this cat’s grief and that is undeniable. Makes me sad that so many lesser evolved individuals make equally idiotic comments. I truly hope I never have to deal with any of them other than to maybe pump my gas or cut my lawn, I somehow don’t think I have to worry. Blatant disrespect for any creature is disgusting. You don’t have to love cats/animals etc but maybe, just maybe, opening your minds and shutting your traps may benefit you.

Um, you guys are idiots, cats blink slowly when they’re happy. There may have been cat humpage, but that was to move the pillow into a comfortable. If cats could speak english, it’d be something like;
“God damnit, move over. I wanna lie down to.”
The bottom cat be like
“Fuck you, I want to lie here.”
Well, bottom cat was dead, so. Never mind.
In any case, that top cat was happy.

cats dont know CPR.

cats dont try to revive other dead cats

people who think that’s what’s happening are projecting, it’s quite normal for us to do so, but it’s not a factual explanation of the reality of the situation.

it’s one cat trying for a reaction from another cat and/or trying to get it to mate with him, basing the second version on what some cat owners here have said about behavior of cats when in heat.

doesn’t hurt anyone for people to think nice things about those cats though, and project human traits onto them etc, it’s not true, but it doesn’t hurt anyone, if it brings you to tears because you felt overwhelmed by the emotional scene of this video, that’s fine, you’re human :)

but don’t get angry at others who see something different.

ps.

to those saying first – how can you be so cruel to think that …. – and then you follow it up with something like – i hope you get hurt because ….. –

sorta puts you in the category of being just as cruel and mean, why would you wish someone harm for not reacting to a video online the same way you do.

pps. cats aren’t capable of complex emotions like humans, they may have something we interpret as just that, but it’s usually much more simple.

You already started off with an inaccurate definition of the word projection.
Your argument is strewn with logical fallacies.

It’s okay that you want to think the cat was humping the other one, but in reality it wasn’t.

Also it is a proven fact that animals are able to show love and affection. Their emotions do not extend to that of humans, no, but that doesn’t mean they don’t possess any.

Companionship is very important in many species and especially these feral cats. If the cat were in fact humping it’s dead partner, it would have run at the first sight of humans. These were feral cats. FERAL. A type of cat that sees a human as danger. But he stayed by trying to comfort and revive his dead partner.

Also I have seen cats in heat, many times in my life. Both feral and domestic. Just the other day a male in my yard had mounted a female, and had already started the “act” I went outside to get the mail and as soon as they saw me, the male de-mounted and ran off.

I’ll admit some bits DO resemble the sexual act but honestly it was no where near as close to mating as what people are claiming. Anyone who truly knows anything about cats can see this.

Sorry to sound callous, but the white cat is not trying to revive or comfort his dead “friend”. The white cat, which looks like a Tom-cat to me, is showing all the signs of a male responding to a female ‘queen’, who has crouched – denoting receptivity to mating. The white cat is unaware that the black cat is dead – the poor animal simply hasn’t the intelligence to discern ‘alive’ from ‘recently dead’. The white cat is biting the prone black cat (I assume it’s a female) on the nape of the neck [typical Tom cat mating behaviour], and the kneading gestures are also typical of a male attempting to ‘press’ the female into the receptive crouching position. Note how the Tom occasionally ‘squats’ his hind quarters in the vicinity of the black prone cat. It sounds cruel – and bizarre – but applying human qualities of sympathy and sorrow are inappropriate; neither cat knows what’s going on. One is dead; the other is stupid and attempting to mate.

You’re right. Before my cat was desexed this is exactly what he would do. When he was in mating season he would use inanimate objects and knead and bite just like this cat. Before reading the comments I thought the same thing.
