Hey Shankar!

Ill take that $80 bet! I actually know this guy and hang out frequently!

He is quite “clean” so to speak, just has a bushy beard…

As for knowledge, I did Computer Engineering at Uni, and well Paul often blows me away in discussions, with his broad understanding of physics and computing!

So you buying me a beer instead of that $80 or what?

Worked with a few IT people like that – some of the stuff they’ve seen, done and know blows me away.

If that guy is a good IT guy, he was aware of photography before that photo was taken.

I studied IT….and i can tell you….IT is complex.

You study, 1, 2, 3, 4 sometime sup to 10 books that all talk about the same topic, and then you digg deeper…and deeper…tilly ou can turn everything inside out.

In IT, its exploration…there is no right or wrong..there is..the more you explore…the more you know…unlike other feilds..where you just need to learn a set of knowledge to do your job…

Respect to the IT world….you ARE after all using a laptop, on the internet, all of which where made by IT engineers, researchers, etc.

IT is very complex but I can tell you there are right and wrong ways to solve a problem or configure something. Just because it “works” for now doesn’t mean it is an ideal configuration and when a company gets bigger or something stops working then it is a real pain to find the problem and fix it.

I did IT for 11 years and came out looking a lot like that guy. It’s a stressful job with little appreciation.

Many IT people also go into IT because they want to work with machines, not people. What’s the easiest way to warn people that you’re not into long conversations? Grow a beard and long hair. The “look” is practical.
