Meg Whitman’s Press Secretary Tweets Wrong Link, Hilarity Ensues
Sarah Pompei is the press secretary for Meg Whitman’s CA gubernatorial campaign. She wants you to believe that Jerry Brown is soft on crime, and wants you to know that the San Diego Sheriffs endorsed Whitman. So to get the word out, she tweeted this:

By some accident of nature (pasting the wrong url), it turns out her evidence of Jerry Brown being soft on crime is some guy/gal/??? person in pink lingerie jamming on their bass guitar to Japanese pop music. That is not only a pretty cogent argument, it’s catchy:
(Shazam says the song is called Fuwa Fuwa Jikan by Sakurakou K-on bu, if you’re wondering.)
Luckily for us she used bit.ly, so anyone who wants to watch can see the avalanche of traffic in real time. As of 5:20 am Pacific time she had not caught her mistake. The tweet was still up after nearly 24 hours, had over 100 retweets, and 21,000 views on the link.
It looks like Pompei doesn’t really check her @mentions, so maybe she won’t notice. The original tweeter, her campaign coworker Mike Murphy, sent out the correct tweet. All of this hoopla came about because Pompei forgot 1 character at the end of the url.
